The Hofstra Pride are on the road again on Friday and play against the Elon Phoenix at noon ET Dec. 31 at Schar Center. Elon will be strutting in after a victory while the Pride will be stumbling in from a loss.

Hofstra was just a bucket shy of a win on Wednesday and fell 63-62 to the William & Mary Tribe. If the result catches you off guard, it should: Hofstra was far and away the favorite. Guard Omar Silverio had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only nine points on 2-for-11 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, the Northeastern Huskies typically have all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Elon proved too difficult a challenge. Elon wrapped up 2021 with a 79-62 win over the Huskies. Guard Darius Burford was the offensive standout of the contest for the Phoenix, picking up 23 points in addition to five rebounds.

When the two teams previously met in March, the Pride lost to Elon by a decisive 76-58 margin. The defeat knocked Hofstra out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Elon with a vengeful fire.
