FGCU upsets Georgetown, makes Andy Enfield's life even better
Andy Enfield's first coaching job was in the NBA, first startup company became worth $100 million and first wife (and last, if he's smart) is a model. Dude really has lived the life. And it got better Friday with the upset of this NCAA tournament.

Dude really has lived the life.

And it got better Friday with the upset of this NCAA tournament.
His Florida Gulf Coast Eagles ran and shot and dunked their way to a 78-68 win over Georgetown here at the Wells Fargo Center and became just the sixth No. 15 seed in history to upset a No. 2 seed. No. 15 seeds were 6-108 all-time before this game tipped. Now they're 7-108, and there was nothing lucky about it.
Yes, the Hoyas entered as Big East co-champions and heavy favorites.
But Florida Gulf Coast looked like the better team.
The Eagles led 24-22 at half and by 19 points when Chase Fieler dunked with 12:33 remaining. Georgetown made a run to cut the deficit to single digits in the final minutes. But it was too little, too late. So Otto Porter Jr's college career (assuming he enters the NBA Draft, which is considered likely given that he's projected as a top-five pick) ended with a 5-of-16 performance against the Atlantic Sun champions.
Meantime, Sherwood Brown's college career continues.
The senior guard got 24 points on 14 shots against Georgetown.
Which is why he was smiling when the buzzer sounded, and why his coach was smiling when the buzzer sounded, and why his coach's model wife was smiling and jumping and clapping when the buzzer sounded, too. The Atlantic Sun champions beat the Big East champions. So now this mostly unknown school with a mostly unknown coach is the biggest story in college basketball, suddenly identifiable as something other than the program run by the man who's married to the beautiful blonde on the magazine cover.
