Neither No. 1 seed Gonzaga nor No. 7 seed South Carolina has ever made an appearance in the Final Four as a program. But looky here, it’s March 26 and one of these teams is guaranteed a shot to win it all when the two square off next week.

This season has been kind to the programs looking to achieve first-evers!

Early betting lines for the Final Four game, which will be played on April 1 on CBS, indicate the Zags will be favored quite heavily. The Bulldogs opened as a 6.5-point favorite for its matchup against the 7th-seeded Gamecocks. The total for the game is set at 138.

The Gamecocks’ defense has been rightfully credited for its postseason success, securing wins over Marquette, Duke, Baylor and Florida to get to this point. But in NCAA Tournament play, the total for their games have averaged 150.5 -- including an 88-81 shootout win over the Blue Devils in the Round of 32.

Gonzaga, on the other hand, is getting it done with defense as well as anyone still left in the field. The Bulldogs are only allowing 59 points per game defensively, and the average total for its four games is 131.25.

In other words: Betting the over will be a thing a lot of people will be hammering.

Gonzaga is 16-4-2 against the spread in its last 21 games. South Carolina has covered in each of its last three NCAA Tournament games by an average of 15 points.
