Former UNC-Wilmington G Donte Morales charged in felony drug case
Donte Morales was arrested Monday in New Hanover County, N.C., and charged with multiple felonies, including marijuana possession and conspiracy to sell marijuana. The 21-year-old guard averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds last season for UNC-Wilmington, but had decided to transfer.
My colleague Jeff Goodman spends weeks of his life each year compiling a list of Division I transfers who are coming and going. It's a seemingly never-ending process that currently includes more than 425 names, among them North Carolina-Wilmington's Donte Morales.
Morales averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds last season.
He then decided to transfer.
And it now looks like he might spend next season ... in prison.
Here's the mugshot from earlier today.
Click the link and you'll see that Morales was arrested and charged with a number of crimes -- including felony possession of marijuana and conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana. In other words, police are saying, if you ever needed weed in Wilmington there's a good chance Morales could get it for you, and he'd probably be willing to deliver it, too. Now the 21-year-old is in jail with a $35,000 bond, and his college career has likely come to an end. (Update the transfer list accordingly, Goodman.)
