Houston transfer Tashawn Thomas heading to Oklahoma
Oklahoma added a major piece on Sunday night, with Houston transfer Tashawn Thomas choosing the Sooners.
Houston transfer Tashawn Thomas is heading to Oklahoma, his father told CBSSports.com.
Thomas, a 6-foot-8 power forward, chose the Sooners over Miami.
"He wanted to make a deep run in the [NCAA Tournament], which would be very important for getting to the next level," Kenya Thomas said. "Plus the family will get a chance to see him. It felt Oklahoma gave the best chance for that to happen."
Thomas, who averaged 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds last season, left Houston last month -- but with transfer restrictions. He couldn't transfer to any school in Texas, any school in the AAC, and any school on Houston's schedule for the next two seasons.
He will attempt to get a waiver to play immediately.
"You never know with the NCAA, but I think we have a good shot," Kenya Thomas said.
