What to Know
The Valparaiso Beacons haven't won a game against the Missouri State Bears since March 7 of 2020, but they'll be looking to end the drought Saturday. Valpo and MSU will face off in a Missouri Valley battle at 4 p.m. ET at JQH Arena. The Bears should still be riding high after a win, while the Beacons will be looking to get back in the win column.
Valpo was close but no cigar on Wednesday as they fell 78-75 to the Illinois State Redbirds. A silver lining for Valpo was the play of guard Kevion Taylor, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 26 points.
Speaking of close games: things were close when MSU and the Drake Bulldogs clashed on Wednesday, but MSU ultimately edged out the opposition 66-62. MSU got double-digit scores from four players: forward Gaige Prim (21), guard Isiaih Mosley (14), guard Lu'Cye Patterson (10), and guard Jaylen Minnett (10).
Valpo is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
Valparaiso's defeat took them down to 11-13 while Missouri State's victory pulled them up to 18-8. Gaige Prim will be someone to keep an eye on after he had 21 points in addition to eight rebounds on Wednesday. Let's see if he can build on that strong performance or if Valparaiso's defense can bottle him up.
