Who's Playing
Penn State @ VCU
Current Records: Penn State 5-5; VCU 7-4
What to Know
The Penn State Nittany Lions are on the road again on Saturday and play against the VCU Rams at 3:30 p.m. ET Dec. 18 at Stuart Siegel Center. VCU will be strutting in after a victory while the Nittany Lions will be stumbling in from a defeat.
The contest between Penn State and the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday was not a total blowout, but with Penn State falling 80-64 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Guard Sam Sessoms wasn't much of a difference maker for Penn State; Sessoms finished with 12 points on 6-for-12 shooting in his 26 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, if there were any doubts why VCU was a heavy favorite Wednesday, the squad quickly laid those doubts to rest. They made easy work of the Florida Atlantic Owls on Wednesday and carried off a 66-46 win. Guard KeShawn Curry (13 points) was the top scorer for the Rams.
The Nittany Lions are now 5-5 while VCU sits at 7-4. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Penn State is 354th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 9.4 on average. To make matters even worse for Penn State, VCU comes into the game boasting the 14th most takeaways per game in college basketball at 18.5.
