Iowa State suspends Abdel Nader in wake of reported DUI arrest
The Cyclones forward will sit while the school gets the facts and awaits what comes of the case.
Iowa State has indefinitely suspended transfer forward Abdel Nader, according to multiple reports.
Nader was pulled over around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night, according to Iowa State Police. He was arrested on a suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Nader joined ISU nearly a year ago after transferring from Northern Illinois.
Nader did not play this past season because he was a redshirt transfer. While at NIU, Nader averaged 13.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in his sophomore season a year after making the MAC's All-Freshman team.
The suspension is in compliance with Iowa State student-athlete code of conduct.
ISU told the Des-Moines Register that Cyclones coach Fred Hoiberg "is aware of the situation."
