Iowa State's Melvin Ejim out for at least a month with left knee injury
This could hurt the Cyclones in short-term. A hyperextension to Ejim's left knee means he's out at least a month.
An injury to Melvin Ejim's left knee will cause the talented Iowa State senior forward to miss at least a month of the season.
Iowa State announced Thursday afternoon that Ejim hyperextended his left knee, also resulting in a bone bruise, and so the timeline for his hiatus will be 4-6 weeks. The injury came during a Wednesday practice. Ejim was selected in the preseason to the Big 12's First Team.
This will certainly set the Cyclones back a little bit; Ejim makes for a good complement in the frontcourt to Georges Niang, and the two together give ISU a good chance at making a third straight NCAA tournament. Ejim is ranked No. 72 on our list of the 100 best players in college basketball and averaged 11.3 points and 9.3 rebounds last season.
