Just like athletic talents can be handed down through a family by way of genetics, so too can a sense of humor. Or at least it seems that way.

Northwestern sophomore forward Charlie Hall, the son of “Seinfield” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he has decided not to put his name in the upcoming NBA Draft -- an announcement which surely had Wildcats fans hanging on pins and needles..

Did you catch the comedy of it? No?

Well, maybe this will clear it up: Hall averaged 1.6 minutes per game for Northwestern in the 2016-17 campaign, and scored a total of zero points. While all the big name NBA prospects like Lonzo Ball and Malik Monk are announcing their plans to enter the draft and signing with agents and taking the next step of their basketball careers, Hall made light of it in a pretty comedic way.

Hall, a 6-foot-5 walk-on, might have a future in professional basketball. That much shouldn’t be ruled out. But the NBA demand for 6-foot-5 wing players who’ve not scored a single point in two seasons is likely low, so it seems this is definitely the smart decision for now.

Hey, in Hall’s defense, Northwestern has done things as a basketball program that it has never accomplished before he arrived. A year ago the team went 20-12 and just missed the NCAA Tournament. But this past season was historic, clinching an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time in program history, winning a game in the Big Dance, and giving national runner-up Gonzaga all it could handle before falling in the round of 32. Can you imagine how far the team can go in year three with the support from a savvy veteran like Hall? To quote the great Michael Jordan: The ceiling is the roof for Northwestern.
