What to Know

The Kansas State Wildcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers are set to clash at 7 p.m. ET March 9 at T-Mobile Center in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tourney. K-State is expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the contest prepared for a fight.

The Wildcats came up short against the Oklahoma Sooners this past Saturday, falling 78-71. Guard Mike McGuirl put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 21 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, the TCU Horned Frogs typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday West Virginia proved too difficult a challenge. West Virginia managed a 70-64 victory over TCU. Four players on West Virginia scored in the double digits: guard Taz Sherman (25), guard Sean McNeil (10), forward Jalen Bridges (10), and guard Malik Curry (10).

West Virginia's win lifted them to 15-16 while Kansas State's loss dropped them down to 14-16. This past Saturday the Mountaineers relied heavily on Taz Sherman, who had 25 points. It will be up to Kansas State's defense to limit his damage Wednesday.
