Larry Brown will resign as head coach of SMU, multiple sources told CBS Sports on Friday.

An official announcement is expected soon.

Associate head coach Tim Jankovich will assume head-coaching responsibilities.

Sources told CBS Sports that Brown's resignation was a result of SMU's lack of commitment to offer him a long-term contract. Brown, 75, went 94-39 with the Mustangs and went to the NCAA Tournament once in his four years.

The Mustangs were ineligible for the field of 68 last March due to an NCAA violation.

Jankovich has a career record of 157-121 in stops at both North Texas and Illinois State.
