Laurence Bowers expected to return to Mizzou's lineup Wednesday

Well, some good news for Mizzou fans here. CBSSports.com's Doug Gottlieb took time away from his Super Bowl duties down in New Orleans to tweet that a source informed him of Laurence Bowers' return to Missouri.

Bowers went down Jan. 8 (seen above) in a home game against Alabama. He's missed Missouri's past five games. The Tigers are 3-2 in that stretch and spun from a No. 10 to a No. 17 ranking in the AP poll.

ESPN.com reported early Tuesday that Frank Haith was hopeful Bowers could play in the Tigers' Wednesday night road game against LSU.

The Tigers of Missouri will certainly be a factor near the top of the league, but at this point, with Florida 16-2, 6-0 in the league and holding opponents to 48.1 points per game in SEC play, it's fair to say everybody's playing for second.

Bowers, a fifth-year senior who missed all of last season with a torn ACL in his other knee, is averaging 16.8 points and 6.9 rebounds.
