LOOK: 18 of the 21 3s by Creighton came from beyond NBA range
A ridiculous showing from the Bluejays, in chart form.
You know what Creighton did at Villanova Monday night. It was an amazing display of offense, the kind of game that the Bluejays deserved, in a way. After all this team's built itself toward, perhaps it was just a matter of time before it went bananas from beyond the arc. The 21 3-pointers set a new Big East record for most deep balls in one game.
And now, via the Omaha World-Herald, we see that 18 of those 21 treys actually came from beyond the NBA line for 3s. Playing on a pro court obviously catalyzed this. Whenever you watch a game with college guys on an NBA hardwood, it seems they're more prone to accept the unsaid challenge of stepping out and proving they can sink it from beyond 23 feet, 9 inches.
This was Creighton's masterpiece, and in a way I feel sort of robbed because it could've been even more amazing had Villanova been able to somewhat keep up. Instead, the 96-68 win caused coach Greg McDermott to respectfully ease off the gas with about eight minutes to go.
Ethan Wragge, the bearded bomber who is getting a night dedicated to his look at an upcoming Creighton game, hit nine of those 3s. If anything, this performance has made Creighton as must-see as any other program at the moment. It's a great year for college hoops, and Creighton's becoming one of the primary reasons.
