Louisiana Tech to hire Eric Konkol
Miami assistant Eric Konkol has reached an agreement in principle to become the next head coach at Louisiana Tech, a source told CBSSports.com on Saturday.
An official announcement is expected early next week.
Konkol has spent the bulk of his career working alongside Jim Larranaga -- first at George Mason, then at Miami. The Wisconsin-Eau Claire graduate will replace Michael White, who left last week to become Florida's coach after Billy Donovan left for Oklahoma City.
Louisiana Tech has won three straight league titles.
CBSSports.com reported early Saturday that Konkol was among the candidates in discussions with Louisiana Tech. The other coaches under consideration were Oklahoma assistant Steve Henson, Baylor assistant Jerome Tang and North Florida's Matt Driscoll.
