Louisville's Akoy Agau: 'Our fans are more mature' than Kentucky's
Some good ol' rivalry banter from a Louisville player.
Nothing like a little Louisville-Kentucky rivalry talk to get the college basketball juices flowing in May.
Louisville rising sophomore Akoy Agau was on the radio recently, and aside from discussing constant transfer rumors surrounding him, he had a chance to talk about the sport's best rivalry.
“It’s literally, if you win, you have exactly 365 days until the next game you play each other to brag and talk all the crap they want,” Agau said, according to the Courier-Journal. “It’s literally all they do. It’s red and blue just going back at each other. If a Louisville player does something, all the Kentucky fans want to … publicize it or get it out."
And here's the quote that will likely get the most attention.
“I personally feel like our fans are more mature. I hope there’s not any Kentucky fans listening.”
Agau also discussed how important the rivalry is to both fanbases.
"We could be in the national championship playing against someone else, or we could have like 10 more games before playing that game, but that's the only game anybody's talking about down there," he said. "I've never been a part of something so crazy - amazing."
Agau, a 6-foot-8 power forward, had 17 points and 21 rebounds in 95 minutes last season.
