Louisville's Gorgui Dieng will return this weekend against Kentucky
Rick Pitino told CBSSports.com that Louisville big man Gorgui Dieng will return this weekend against Kentucky after missing the past month with a broken wrist. The 6-foot-11 junior practiced on Wednesday and will play Saturday against the rival Wildcats.
The 6-foot-11 Senegal big man has been out since Nov. 23 with a broken wrist, but Pitino told CBSSports.com that Dieng practiced on Wednesday and will definitely play against the Wildcats this weekend.
"He's in great shape," Pitino said. "His defensive timing is off, but he looks good offensively," Pitino said.
Dieng suffered the injury against Missouri and sat out the team's lone setback, against Duke in the championship contest down in the Battle of Atlantis. Dieng was averaging 8.2 points, eight rebounds and two blocks this season and is one of the top big men in the country -- especially on the defensive end.
Dieng's parents will be in attendance this weekend to see their son play for the first time. Louisville will need him against a long and athletic Kentucky frontline that features freshmen Nerlens Noel and Willie Cauley-Stein.
