Marquette's Mayo reinstated to team
Marquette coach Buzz Williams told CBSSports.com that Todd Mayo, O.J.'s younger brother, has been reinstated after missing the first semester due to academics. Mayo will come in and help a team that could use another scorer.
Mayo, the younger brother of NBA guard O.J. Mayo, averaged 7.9 points per game last season but was expected to have an expanded role with the departure of the Golden Eagles' top two players, Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom.
Marquette coach Buzz Williams told CBSSports.com on Thursday, shortly after the 6-foot-3 guard was cleared. Mayo had dealt with a few offseason issues -- including one of the academic variety.
His scoring is needed for a team that is coming off a 49-47 loss to Green Bay and fell to 7-3 overall. Arizona State transfer Trent Lockett has struggled to adapt, averaging just 7.8 points in 24 minutes per game. Vander Blue leads the team at 12.7 points per game.
