Marshall's Kareem Canty finally gets release, will transfer
Kareem Canty has received his release from Marshall.
It's been expected for a couple weeks that Marshall point guard Kareem Canty was going to wind up on the transfer list. He made his intentions clear on social media a couple weeks ago, but the Thundering Herd had still not given Canty his release.
On Friday, it finally came -- and now Canty is free to transfer anywhere, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com.
Canty, a 6-foot-1 freshman from Brooklyn, averaged 16.3 points and 5.5 assists this past season for head coach Tom Herrion. But Herrion was fired after the season, and Canty wanted out.
He immediately becomes one of the best transfer point guards on the market, and plenty of schools will reach out.
