Melvin Johnson to miss VCU tourney opener vs. Stephen F. Austin
VCU will be without its best outside shooting threat for Friday's NCAA Tournament game vs. Stephen F. Austin. Melvin Johnson will miss the game with a sprained knee.
VCU's Melvin Johnson will likely miss Friday's game against Stephen F. Austin because of a sprained knee, Rams coach Shaka Smart said.
There is no official timetable for Johnson's return.
"We'll know more on Thursday," Smart said.
The 6-foot-3 Johnson averaged 10.6 points and was VCU's best outside shooter, knocking down 39 percent of his shots from three-point range.
