Memphis F Austin Nichols (ankle) could be out for rest of season
Memphis Tigers could be without forward Austin Nichols for the remainder of the 2014-15 season, according to the Commercial Appeal. Nichols re-injured his right ankle in the second half of Saturday's game against Tulsa.
Hopes for any sort of postseason run just got tougher for Memphis.
Already dealing with inconsistencies on the court, especially following a Saturday's loss to Tulsa, the Tigers could be without forward Austin Nichols for the remainder of the 2014-15 season, according to the Commercial Appeal. Nichols re-injured his right ankle in the second half of Saturday's game.
Nichols is Memphis' leading scorer at 13.3 points per game. He also is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game, which is second-best on the team.
Memphis is now at 17-12 overall and will need to win the AAC tournament to receive a bid to the NCAA tournament. If Nichols is unable to come back this season, any chances of a run in the conference tournament or even the NIT are in jeopardy.
