Memphis transfer Austin Nichols commits to Virginia
Austin Nichols will be eligible to play for Virginia in 2016-17 after transferring from Memphis.
Memphis transfer Austin Nichols has committed to Virginia, CBSSports.com confirmed Sunday afternoon.
John Martin of 92.9 ESPN Radio in Memphis first reported the news.
Nichols must sit out next season per NCAA rules and then will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016-17.
Nichols averaged 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds last year for Memphis.
The Memphis administration initially blocked the Cavaliers when they allowed Nichols to transfer but later lifted the restrictions.
Virginia lost to Michigan State last year in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
