Michigan picks up another transfer after Wake Forest guard Chaundee Brown commits to Juwan Howard
Brown, a guard who averaged 12.1 points for the Demon Deacons, is transferring to the Wolverines
Michigan added another transfer on Tuesday as the Wolverines continue to mitigate the blow of missing out on two of their top targets in the 2020 recruiting class. Chaundee Brown announced his decision to pick the Wolverines over Gonzaga and Illinois after spending three years as a starter at Wake Forest.
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 12.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists as a junior for the Demon Deacons. Brown will have to sit out the 2020-21 season unless he receives a waiver for immediate eligibility.
Still, it's a nice pickup for coach Juwan Howard, who is entering his second season at Michigan. The Wolverines missed out on Joshua Christopher, the No. 10 prospect in the 2020 class who spurned the Wolverines and committed to Arizona State in April. Michigan also lost a commitment from No. 18 overall prospect Isaiah Todd, who chose instead to sign with the G League's program for elite prospects.
Even without Christopher and Todd, Michigan's 2020 recruiting class is still ranked No. 12 nationally by 247Sports. And with Brown's commitment, the class is now supplemented by three transfers.
Purdue wing Nojel Eastern announced earlier this month that he plans to transfer to Michigan after starting 27 games for the Boilermakers this past season, and Columbia graduate transfer Mike Smith committed to Michigan in April after leading the Ivy League in scoring at 22.8 points per game this past season.
