Mid-major star, Manhattan's George Beamon, out at least three weeks
The Jaspers have a good shot at making the NCAA tournament, but they could be held up in the coming month due to this injury.
The 11-3 Manhattan Jaspers are the class of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference this year. Steve Masiello's team also has perhaps the best player in the conference in guard George Beamon, who missed almost all of last season due to an ankle injury.
And so, unfortunately, it's injury time again for Beamon, who's putting up 20.1 points per game. Multiple reports, including one from our own Jon Rothstein, have Beamon out for at least the next three weeks due to a sprained right shoulder. His return could take as long as six weeks. Jaspers coach Steve Masiello is certainly hoping for the former.
Manhattan is 4-1 in the MAAC after its 81-76 loss at Quinnipiac on Thursday night. Next up is a home game against Marist on Sunday. The team leader in scoring is now senior guard Michael Alvarado (11.8).
