Miles Bridges named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for second time

Less than a month into the season, Michigan State star Miles Bridges has two weekly conference awards under his belt.

Bridges was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday for his efforts during MSU's trip to the Bahamas, where he averaged 19.3 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in three games in the Battle 4 Atlantis. His best performance came in the opener, when he scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the second double-double of his young career in a win over St. John's. He also went 3-for-5 from deep in that game.

After Michigan State fell to Baylor in the Atlantis semifinal, despite Bridges going 7-for-11 from the field, he and the Spartans responded against Wichita State. While Bridges struggled some in the first half, he came out firing in the second and finished with 21 points, including four 3-pointers and a 5-for-7 mark from the free throw line.

For the year, Bridges is averaging 17.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. This was his second Freshman of the Week award, as he shared the honor with Indiana's Curtis Jones the first week of the season.
