Mississippi State transfer Rodney Hood chooses Duke
Rodney Hood, a 6-foot-8 wing from Mississippi State, might have been the best transfer on the market this offseason. On Saturday night, he chose Duke over Ohio State.
Mississippi State transfer Rodney Hood was one of the most sought-after transfers on the market this offseason, and he made his decision late Saturday night.
Hood, a 6-foot-8 wing, chose Duke over Ohio State.
“I feel like coach [Mike Kryzewski] and the staff can get the most out of me as a player and academically,” Hood told ESPN.com. “I liked the teammates and felt like we have a good chance to compete for a championship.
Memphis and Florida State were also involved with Hood, who announced after last season that he was leaving the Bulldogs. He averaged 10.0 points and 4.8 rebounds during his freshman season at Mississippi State.
Hood will sit out the upcoming season and have three years of eligibility remaining in 2013-14. Duke also has five-star guard Matt Jones wrapped up in the class of 2013.
