NC State frosh T.J. Warren retweets former player blasting Gottfried
Is T.J. Warren unhappy with head coach Mark Gottfried? A retweet Wednesday morning would make it seem that way.
Just two weeks ago, everything was hunky-dory in Raleigh. North Carolina State had just knocked off No. 1 Duke, and the Wolfpack were getting some pub as perhaps a legitimate contender in the ACC.
Things don't seem as peachy anymore, though. Since that win over the Blue Devils, NC State has lost to Maryland, escaped against Clemson by four and then lost to Wake Forest on Tuesday night.
And apparently not everyone is happy with the way that Mark Gottfried is coaching. Thomas De Thaey left the program back in November and made it clear on Twitter that he doesn't think much of Gottfriend's in-game acumen.
A former player expressing his displeasure after leaving the school? Meh, not a headline. What is eye-opening, though, is current freshman T.J. Warren retweeting De Thaey's tweet.
What makes it even more interesting is that Warren isn't exactly riding the bench. In the past two games, he has played 25 minutes per contest and is averaging 17.5 points in that span.
The team is losing, yes, but if C.J. Leslie makes a couple of free throws or some late open shots fall, NC State would have beaten Wake Forest. And that's probably not on Gottfried.
Warren has since undone his retweet of De Thaey's tweet.
