NC State's T.J. Warren expected to leave for the NBA
T.J. Warren is reportedly leaving North Carolina State for the NBA.
T.J. Warren became a national name as the season progressed, as the North Carolina State forward carried the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tourament on the back of his offensive outputs. And now he's taking those scoring abilities to the NBA.
Warren has decided to leave NC State and turn pro, according to Yahoo! Sports.
He hasn't officially told the Wolfpack staff about his intentions, but they're expecting him to go pro.
"That was the plan," a source told CBSSports.com.
Warren, a 6-8 sophomore from Durham, developed into one of the most dangerous scorers in the country. He averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 rebounds, using a variety of floaters, pull-up jumpers and finishes at the rim to create problems for defenses -- along with plenty of catch-and-shoot opportunities. Warren ended the season scoring at least 20 points in 19 consecutive games, including six games with at least 30 points. Warren also hit the 40-point mark in back-to-back games to end the regular season.
He is projected as a mid-first round pick in June's NBA draft.
Head coach Mark Gottfried will return nearly everyone else from a team that was bounced in the Round of 64 after winning a First Four game. Jordan Vandenberg is the only other expected loss from the 22-14 team.
