Odds: Kentucky, Duke, Wisconsin early favorites to win 2014-15 title

The NBA Draft deadline has passed and now we know the projected lineups for most of the early national title contenders for 2014-15. Bovada released updated national championship odds for next season on Monday, picking Kentucky and Duke as the odds-on favorites to win it all next season.

A few notes:

No surprise to see Kentucky at the top. The return of Andrew and Aaron Harrison -- not to mention Willie Cauley-Stein, Dakari Johnson, Alex Poythress and Marcus Lee -- made the Wildcats a consensus pick for preseason No. 1 and their title odds (5/1) reflect their place as the team to beat for the entire season.

High expectations for the blue bloods. After Kentucky and Duke, there are five elite programs all given favorable odds to win the title in 2014-15. That means there will net-cutting expectations at Wisconsin, Kansas, Arizona, Florida and North Carolina. These teams normally get spotlighted regardless of preseason projections, but the collective buzz should make for a fun start and (hopefully) finish to next season.

Most interesting wager? Wichita State . Wichita State returns both Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker next season, though they are losing a tremendous talent in Cleanthony Early. Gary Parrish has the Shockers as No. 8 in his preseason Top 25+1 and oddsmakers have them grouped between the trio Louisville/Michigan State/Villanova and Iowa State/Michigan/SMU. That regular season schedule should allow for a favorable tournament seed, and 28/1 presents some value if you think this Gregg Marshall-led program still has Final Four potential.
