PHOTOS/VIDEO: Iowa State's Georges Niang gets face bloodied
The Cyclones won, but at a small cost. Star forward Georges Niang had to leave the game, dripping in blood.
Blood, sweat and ... a lot more blood. It was an ugly scene in a pretty game for Iowa State Friday night. The Cyclones moved on to the Big 12 finals by beating Kansas 94-83.
Toward the end of the game, Georges Niang took an elbow to the face from KU's Brannen Greene, who was called for a charge. It was a messy exit for a guy who had 25 points and seven assists.
Above-the-eye injuries can get so ugly so fast because of the blood vessel that lie beneath such a tender area. One wrong hit and the gash can gush red in a hurry. That's what happened to Niang here. Reports from the game were that he only needed five stitches to close up the wound and should be good to play in Sunday's final. Here's how it happened.
