Pittsburgh nabs top-75 prospect Mike Young
Mike Young, a Pennsylvania native, decided he wanted to go back home for college. After bouncing between various high schools, the top-75 forward is heading to Pittsburgh.
Mike Young has had a journeyman high school career. He went from Shadyside (Pa.) to St. Benedict’s (N.J.) to Hudson Catholic (N.J.) – and now he’s headed back to Benedict’s for his senior season.
It looks like college will be more decisive for Young, though. On Saturday evening, he committed to Pittsburgh.
He informed various media members of the news via text message.
Young, a 6-foot-7 forward, expanded his offensive game during the spring and summer. He went from being mostly a back-to-the-basket player to being one who could go inside and outside, and knock down perimeter shots on a consistent basis. Young became more difficult to defend due to his ability to go off the dribble against slower defenders.
“I’ll do anything that helps my team have a chance to win,” Young told CBSSports.com in June. “If I have to do something, I’ll do it.”
Young is ranked No. 68 in CBSSports.com’s Top 100. He chose Pittsburgh over Florida, with Miami (Fl.), Connecticut, West Virginia, Xavier, Georgia Tech and others in pursuit.
