Theus will replace Bobby Braswell, who spent 17 years at Northridge before being fired in March. Braswell was only 15-17 this season, and hadn’t had a winning record since 2008-09.
After attending UNLV, Theus spent 13 years in the NBA for five different teams, and also played in Italy and Greece. He spent two seasons as the head coach at New Mexico State, helping guide the Aggies to an NCAA tournament appearance – before leaving for one and a half seasons with the Sacramento Kings.
In October, he became the head coach of the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBDL. He has also mentioned for several jobs over the past few years, namely UNLV, DePaul and others.
Worth noting is that Theus' son, Reggie Theus Jr., is a senior at Fairfax (Calif.) and is a decent college prospect.
