Report: The richest coaches in college basketball
We've got the top 20 moneymakers in college hoops, in addition to a few other tidbits.
Mike Krzyzewski continues to stand alone when it comes to college basketball coaching salaries.
The longtime Duke Grand Poobah and Hall-of-Fame coach made $9,682,032 last year, according to data obtained by USA Today.
The coach who falls at No. 2, Louisville's Rick Pitino, made almost 60 percent of Coach K's contract. Pitino's yearly earnings came in at $5,758,338. In fact, the distance between No. 1 and No. 2 on this list (approximately $3.95 million) is the same as the difference between No. 2 and No. 22: Pitino and North Carolina's Roy Williams, who brought in $1,827,945.
Tabulating pay and bonuses and when earnings are filed, etc. can be tricky.
Per USA Today, "In Duke's case, the return it filed this week covers a tax year from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, making 2012 the most recently completed calendar year and, thus, the one used for reporting Krzyzewski's compensation."
The study looked only at coaches involved in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Here's the top 20, including bonuses and other "other pay" provided by schools.
