SEC, Big 12 teams to battle in 2017 Armed Forces Classic in Germany
The Armed Forces Classic will return to Germany in 2017
The Armed Forces Classic matchup for the 2017 event was announced on Friday in an ESPN release. The event that began in 2012, has grown over the past few years.
The location of the event for 2017 will be the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where the event made its debut in 2012. It will showcase West Virginia and Texas A&M, two teams who appeared as No. 3 seeds in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
The college basketball season tips off Friday with two headline games in this year's Armed Forces Classic -- with Arizona-Michigan State at 7 p.m ET, followed by Kansas-Indiana at 9 p.m. ET. The games will be staged from the Stan Sheriff Center on the University of Hawaii Campus.
Below is the current rotation of locations for future Armed Forces Classics listed in order:
Nov 10, 2017: Ramstein Air Base -- Germany (Texas A&M vs. West Virginia)
Nov 9, 2018: Fort Bliss, Texas
Nov 8, 2019: Joint Base Elmendorf -- Richardson, Alaska
Nov 13, 2020: Marine Corps Base Camp -- Lejeune, N.C.
