South Carolina's Tyrone Johnson out indefinitely with foot fracture
South Carolina will be without third-leading scorer Tyrone Johnson indefinitely.
South Carolina is 0-3 to start SEC play, and the Gamecocks will have to go forward without one of their three double-figure scorers.
Tyrone Johnson, a former Villanova transfer, is out indefinitely after suffering a fracture in his right foot. The injury, suffered during Wednesday's loss to Texas A&M, will require surgery.
Johnson, a 6-foot-3 New Jersey native, has been a bright spot for South Carolina in his first season after transferring. He was averaging 11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists before the injury.
With Johnson out, Frank Martin’s three-guard lineup will include more of Brenton Williams, Sindarius Thornwell and Duane Notice. All three players were getting between 21 and 26 minutes per night, but the onus will fall on them for more scoring and playmaking going forward.
South Carolina hosts Ole Miss on Saturday.
