VIDEO: Duke, UNC managers scuffle in annual game

It briefly got chippy in Chapel Hill Tuesday night.

Every season, the night before Duke and North Carolina play, the team's managers stage a scrimmage at at the same venue where the varsity fellas continue the rivalry. On Tuesday night, an elbow following a rebound led to a small fight on the hardwood. According to Duke's student newspaper -- which had a great gamer on the matchup -- Drew Goldstein was the manager on the wrong side of the elbow.

That spurred the scuffle. It didn't progress to a donnybrook, thankfully, but it's nice to know the team's waterboys and laundrymen are as vested in this rivalry as anyone else.

North Carolina came out on top, winning the exhibition 38-33.

By the way, in terms of general interest, Duke-Carolina remains the most popular and intriguing sport nationally -- in terms of gambling. A report from Covers.com Tuesday stated that the game regularly sees thrice as much action than any other regular-season college hoops tilt.

In 12 games since 2000 where these teams have met, UNC has been unranked, as it is tonight. In those games, per the story linked above, Duke is 7-5 against the spread.
