The Lumberjacks were down by 10 to VCU with 3:30 left, and everything was going the Rams' way in the second half. Havoc was being Havoc, and Stephen F. Austin couldn't get anything going offensively.
It was still a four-point deficit with 10.4 seconds left, but the Lumberjacks rebounded a missed free throw, pushed it up the court and Desmond Haymon was left open on the perimeter. Thomas Walkup found Haymon, who knocked down a 3-pointer -- while getting fouled by JeQuan Lewis. He hit the foul shot to send the game into overtime.
A back-and-forth extra session was still in doubt until Lewis' wide-open 3-pointer rimmed out in the final seconds. Stephen F. Austin escaped, 77-75.
And Lewis was devastated.
The Lumberjacks now face the winner of UCLA-Tulsa.
