Villanova vs. Providence odds: Proven computer model locks in A-rated picks
Our unbiased model says one side of the Providence-Villanova spread hits 70 percent of the time
No. 3 Villanova travels to Providence on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in a nationally televised Big East battle. Villanova is favored by nine points, unchanged from the opening line. The Over-Under, or total number of points scored, is 153.5, also unchanged from the open.
Before you lock in your picks, you need to see what SportsLine's advanced computer model is picking. Last season, the model went a crazy 755-636-20 record on its A-rated picks, returning $6,529 to any $100 player who followed it.
That wasn't a fluke, either. This week alone, the model has already nailed Texas Tech (-7) covering a big spread against Oklahoma and Missouri (-2.5) covering against a hot Texas A&M team. Anybody who has been following those picks is way, way up.
Now the model has simulated Villanova-Providence 10,000 times and locked in extremely strong picks.
We can tell you it is projecting 150 total points to be scored, meaning the under should clear with 3.5 points to spare. But it has an even stronger pick on one side of the spread, saying you can bank on one team covering nearly 70 percent of the time. It's a highly confident, A-rated pick that you can only see at SportsLine.
The model has taken into account an up-and-down week for Villanova. The Wildcats lost their top spot in the polls after a crushing loss to St. John's, but bounced back for a big 86-75 victory against Butler over the weekend.
The Wildcats certainly have the talent to win against Providence, but it could also be considered a trap game. A showdown against No. 4 Xavier looms next on the schedule, so Villanova must remain focused and take care of business on Wednesday.
Providence, meanwhile, will enjoy the opportunity to not only play spoiler, but also get a statement win that would be a huge boost for the Friars' NCAA Tournament hopes.
They were rolling in early Big East play with a four-game winning streak, but a 20-point road loss at Villanova slowed that momentum. Providence has lost three of its last five since, including a stunning 80-63 blowout at the hands of a lackluster DePaul team over the weekend.
Now at 16-9 overall and 7-5 in the conference, Providence needs this win to get momentum before tournament time comes around in just a few weeks.
So which side of Villanova-Providence do you need to be all over? Visit SportsLine now to find out which side of the Villanova-Providence spread is cashing almost 70 percent of the time, all from the model that has crushed college hoops, and find out.
