WAC tournament staying in Las Vegas for 2015
Many conferences close to the area are choosing the bright lights of Sin City over other options.
Las Vegas has become a destination spot for college basketball in three critical spots throughout the year.
There's the summer recruiting circuit, which has long been host to plenty of AAU-sanctioned events in the desert every July. There's a cluster of non-conference games/events that are played out in Sin City every November and December. And conference tournaments are planting their flags around the famed Vegas Strip.
The Pac-12, Mountain West and West Coast Conference have long-term visions of keeping their league tourneys in Las Vegas, and on Friday the WAC reestablished that it would like to remain at the party as well. The league's Board of Directors recently voted at a meeting in Denver to hold the men's and women's WAC tournaments in 2015 at the Orleans Arena.
The tourney will run from March 11-14 and will mark the fifth straight season the WAC has trotted out to the desert to play its conference bracket.
