We have a clock controversy in College Station.

Georgia, down just one point with under 10 seconds at Texas A&M, controlled possession with the shot clock off. As Georgia ran its final set to try and take the lead, the game clock inadvertently stopped at 5.6 seconds. But it went unnoticed as play continued and the Bulldogs drew a whistle for a chance to go to the line and potentially win it.

However, officials used a stopwatch to time the difference between when the play stopped and when the foul was called, and ruled that it took more than 5.6 seconds. It was a fortunate ruling and 63-62 escape for Texas A&M, which trailed by double digits and could have potentially lost in the final seconds had the free-throw attempts been granted.

It shouldn't have come down to the final play. Georgia led by nine with 1:32 to play, but two big turnovers allowed the Aggies to come back.
