What to Know
After two games on the road, the #4 UCLA Bruins are heading back home. They and the Cal Poly Mustangs will compete for holiday cheer at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Pauley Pavilion. UCLA will be strutting in after a victory while the Mustangs will be stumbling in from a loss.
UCLA didn't have too much trouble with the Marquette Golden Eagles on the road two weeks ago as they won 67-56. UCLA's guard Jaime Jaquez Jr. looked sharp as he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 83-48, which was the final score in Cal Poly's tilt against the Fresno State Bulldogs this past Friday. Cal Poly's defeat came about despite a quality game from guard Brantly Stevenson, who had 14 points along with six boards. Stevenson hadn't helped his team much against the Portland Pilots last Monday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
UCLA is now 8-1 while Cal Poly sits at 3-8. The Bruins are 7-1 after wins this year, and the Mustangs are 2-5 after losses.
