WATCH: UConn visits Fenway, Shabazz Napier throws first pitch
The Huskies are enjoying their post-championship tour around New England.
A local boy from Roxbury, Mass., got to live out a dream on Tuesday night.
Shabazz Napier threw out the first pitch at Yankees-Red Sox.
“Growing up, watching the Red Sox, coming here and throwing the first pitch when they’re playing against the Yankees, it’s so great,” Napier told the New Haven Register. “It’s so surreal, it’s so sweet.”
The entire UConn team took the trip up to Fenway, touring the grounds during batting practice and taking the trip out to the mound prior to the game to be introduced on the PA system. And then Napier took the rubber and fired in a pretty solid first pitch.
He even got a teammate to take video from behind him, to get the better view. Not bad, Bazz. The Huskies hung around to watch the Yankees pull out a 9-3 win over the Sox.
For Napier, who grew up a Boston baseball fan, it was reportedly his first trip to Fenway in about 15 years.
