Wichita State strikes 8-year deal with Under Armour following move to AAC

Wichita State's jump from the Missouri Valley Conference to the American Athletic Conference isn't the only major shift for the Shockers taking place this offseason. The school announced on Monday it has agreed to an eight-year apparel deal with Under Armour.

Although the basketball program is currently aligned with Nike, and still will be through the upcoming season honor the contract, other programs, like volleyball and softball, wore Adidas as recently as last season, and will do so until the terms of the Adidas contract expire in 2021, according to the Wichita Eagle.

"Wichita State has long needed to brand itself with consistency and uniformity," athletic director Darron Boatright said in a release. "Our agreement with Under Armour gives us that, and our student-athletes will get the best and most innovative competition and training apparel available."

Baseball, women's basketball and golf start with Under Armour on July 1 — the same day Wichita State's move to the American becomes official.

Wichita State will be the fourth program in the American to sport Under Armour, joining Cincinnati, South Florida and Temple.
