The Battle 4 Atlantis has established itself as one of the nation's top early-season tournaments since launching in 2011, and this year's event will enhance that reputation thanks to the presence of four schools ranked in the preseason Top 25 (and one).

The matchups look like this:

(Rankings reflect the preseason Top 25 (and one).)

  • No. 4 Wisconsin vs. UAB
  • No. 6 Florida vs. Georgetown
  • No. 16 Oklahoma vs. UCLA
  • No. 7 North Carolina vs. Butler

Those games will be played Nov. 26. The Wisconsin-UAB winner will then play the Florida-Georgetown winner the following day while the UCLA-Oklahoma winner plays the UNC-Butler winner. The title game is Nov. 28 and will likely feature two ranked teams.

(The actual bracket can be viewed here.)

Yes, notable individuals will also be involved.

All-American candidates Frank Kaminsky (Wisconsin), Sam Dekker (Wisconsin) and Marcus Paige (North Carolina) -- all of whom were highlighted here yesterday -- will be on display along with projected future NBA big Chris Walker (Florida). Add it up, and this is the most-compelling college basketball event scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving. Villanova won the event last year. The previous two champions were Harvard (2011) and Duke (2012).
