Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt has indefinitely suspended the Cowboys' second-leading scorer, Luke Martinez, after he was injured in an off-campus fight.

The 6-foot-5 senior is averaging 14.5 points for a Wyoming team that was 12-0 at the time of his injury. Martinez broke his right ring finger in a bar fight, and has missed the last three games -- including the Cowboys' lone loss, to Boise State.

Wyoming has been a major surprise this season. The Cowboys have been led by Leonard Washington, Martinez and Larry Nance Jr. Shyatt's team was among the final four unbeatens in the nation -- along with Duke, Michigan and Arizona -- which have all since lost.

It's still unclear how long Martinez will miss, but this is a critical blow to a team that has put itself in position to compete for an NCAA tournament berth. Wyoming will play at Fresno on Wednesday.
