STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Akwasi Yeboah scored 24 points and his 3-pointer with 54 seconds left helped send Stony Brook to an 83-79 win over LIU Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

LIU Brooklyn's Raiquan Clark missed a layup with 27 seconds left and was fouled on his put-back attempt. But he missed the free throw, and Jordan McKenzie made a pair of free throws and the Seawolves led 81-77 with 22 seconds to go.

Julius van Sauers's layup narrowed the Blackbirds' deficit to two. Yeboah avoided the foul and his dunk with five seconds left provided the final margin.

Stony Brook (9-2) is off to its best start since moving to Division I prior to the 1999-2000 season.

Miles Latimer scored 18 points and Elijah Olaniyi added 14 for the Seawolves, who finished 32-of-65 shooting (49.2 percent) despite going 5 of 18 from 3-point range.

Jashaun Agosto and Clark each scored 19 for LIU Brooklyn (5-5). Tyrn Flowers chipped in with 17 points.
