ACC Poll Reactions, Week 12: Still no friends in the Top 25 for FSU, Clemson

This week's polls have been released. Here's how the ACC fared, from the top of the polls to the bottom, and what it means.

(AP/Coaches)

10/5. Florida State

As BCS chaos ensues above them in the rankings and standings, the Seminoles wait patiently with simple tasks ahead. Beat Florida, beat Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game, and then Florida State will have a shot to get its first BCS bowl victory since the national title in 1999-00. Easier said than done, obviously. But the Seminoles are sitting so far back in the computer rankings it would take a ton of help to sneak up into the BCS title game. If you are trying, or hoping, to bring this program "back," there needs to be a starting point. The first conference title since 2005 and first BCS bowl victory since 1999 sound like a good start.

12/9. Clemson

Clemson, like Florida State, turns its focus to its biggest game of the year this Saturday, and for the Tigers that means their in-state SEC rival. While Florida State will be playing for its BCS bowl bid on Dec. 1, Clemson's last chance to boost its stock as a potential BCS at-large selection will come against South Carolina. A win over the Gamecocks -- currently No. 12 in the BCS standings -- would not only boost the Tigers' struggling computer rankings but would complete a respectable resume for Sugar Bowl (or another BCS bowl with an at-large spot) consideration. Combine that with a well-traveled fan base and you have the recipe for BCS at-large status. It's not the most perfect process, but you will not hear complaints from Clemson if it works out in its favor.

Others receiving votes: For the third week in a row, there was not a single ACC team besides Florida State or Clemson that received a vote in either poll.
