Amill, Simpson lead Lafayette over Fordham 21-13
NEW YORK (AP) C.J. Amill and Selwyn Simpson combined to rush for 245 yards and three touchdowns and Lafayette held Fordham to minus-20 yards on the ground in a 21-13 victory on Saturday.
Tim DeMorat staked Fordham to a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter when he connected with Isaiah Searight for an 8-yard score. The Leopards (3-5, 2-2 Patriot League) pulled even on Simpson's 38-yard TD run.
DeMorat put the Rams (1-7, 1-2) back on top with a 4-yard TD toss to Austin Longi. A 2-point conversion run was stuffed leaving Fordham with a 13-7 lead. Lafayette grabbed a 14-13 halftime lead on Amill's 31-yard run with 40 seconds left in the second quarter.
Simpson's 1-yard plunge at 8:26 in the third quarter was the only score of the second half. Amill finished with 133 yards on 25 carries, while Simpson tallied 112 yards on 12 totes.
