Alabama and Florida State need less than a handful of wins and a conference championships game victory to meet in Pasadena for the BCS title. The logjam at the top of the college football rankings has begun to clear up after Stanford broke Oregon down at home, moving up to No. 5 in the AP poll and into the driver seat for a second-straight Pac-12 North title.

Ohio State now occupies that No. 3 spot, looking in on Alabama and Florida State as the two teams try avoid a late season slip-up to clinch a spot in the final championship game of the BCS era. Baylor, coming off its Thursday night win against Oklahoma, moves up to No. 4 with a final stretch that includes Oklahoma State and Texas, who has entered the Top 25 at No. 23.
