Auburn picks up big quarterback Jeremy Johnson
Montgomery (Ala.) quarterback Jeremy Johnson is one of the biggest signal-callers in the Southeast and made his decision on Sunday, committing to Auburn during a visit to the school.
“I have officially committed to being an Auburn Tiger,” Johnson told 247Sports.com. “I’m excited, I’m ready to get back home and give the news to my brother and especially my school. I can’t imagine when everybody in the state of Auburn knows. It’s going to be great."
The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder held offers from LSU and Ole Miss among others and is also a standout basketball player.
“Now I can just focus on my grades and the football season,” he said. “This is going to be a huge season for me and our team and especially the community. I feel like I should give us a chance to win state this year in football. We did it in basketball.”
Last season as a junior, Johnson threw for 2,700 yards and 26 touchdowns. He becomes Auburn's ninth commitment for the class of 2013.
